Eagle View Composting

School: Eagle View Elementary

Votes Received: 17

Students from Eagle View Elementary School in Port Hardy decided it was time to reduce our school's ecological footprint. But where would they start? They decided to create a composting program in hopes of reducing waste going to our local landfill. The students made numerous class presentations to bring awareness of the benefits of composting. Local businesses donated composting buckets to the school and next thing you know, a school wide composting program was in full swing. All of our apple cores, banana and orange peels and other food scraps will decompose and create rich soil for our vegetable garden!
